The Christian Council of Ghana has called on the various institutions to be proactive in their line of duties to avert further loss of lives.
The Council observed that most of the fatal accidents recorded in the country could have been averted if those in charge were proactive.
The General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong was commenting on the Kintampo Waterfalls disaster which claimed 18-lives on the spot and wounded several.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Tourism Minister have visited the victims with the Wenchi Methodist Senior High School (WESS) being the hardest hit after 15 students died in the disaster.
Rev Opuni-Frimpong told Onua News on Tuesday that “we should be grateful to God because we allow things to happen before we act”.
He argued that when the disaster happened, the President, former President, First Lady, the Vice President and everyone in the country is talking “but if we were proactive, such things would not have happened”.
Rev Opuni Frimpong said “some of the things that happened are spiritual and we must leave that to God but others are physical which we can do something about them.
“The spiritual ones are in the hands of God but we can do that of the physical, for example broken down vehicles are left in the middle of the roads which kills people”, he added.
