Aggrieved Presidential Candidate of the All People’s Congress Hassan Ayariga says President Mahama’s worst mistake in government so far is his decision to appoint Charlotte Osei as chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to him, the EC Boss, has put professionalism aside in the discharge of her duties and has unfairly targeted him citing her comment that “Hassan Ayariga will not win the elections” which she made during an address in the UK.
Addressing a press conference in Accra Friday, Hassan Ayariga stated that President John Mahama has done a great disservice to Ghanaians with her appointment of Mrs Osei as she’s shown she’s incompetent.
“What did Charlotte Osei do when she was head of the NCCE? She failed in everything she did there, and now she has been appointed chairperson of electoral commission; and she has the guts to disqualify me for what she failed to educate us on. In fact, Mr President, I look you in the face and tell you that her appointment is the worst mistake so far.”
Disgruntled by his disqualification from the upcoming December 7 election, Hassan Ayariga told the media that he’ll seek redress in court over what he describes as unfair treatment by the EC.
Ayariga was ruled out the polls by the Electoral Commission a second time after the Supreme Court ordered the latter to allow 13 disqualified presidential candidates an opportunity to correct mistakes found on their nomination forms which led to their disqualification.
The businessman cum politician and seven others were rejected on Wednesday after the chairperson of the EC said subscribers on their list did not meet the requirement by law.
