Supporters of the New Patriotic Party and Ghanaians in general should fix their attitudes if they intend to see real change in their lives and the fortunes of the country, Rev Canon John Antonio Tello Nelson, the Coordinating Minister of the Accra Ridge Church, has urged.
He said in spite of the fact that most Ghanaians had voted for a change in government on December 7 this year, there was the need for citizens to realise that change must start from them, desisting from such vices as stealing, graft, ethnocentrism, among others.
Rev Nelson said these during the NPP’s Thanksgiving Service on Sunday December 18, following the party’s victory in the country’s presidential and parliamentary poll, which saw Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo emerge as Ghana’s next president.
Rev Nelson preached: “Beloved in the Lord, the election on December 7, 2016, showed that many voted for change. But the honest truth is that the change can only happen by all of us having changed our attitudes – the corruption, greed, the lazy attitude to work, the I-don’t-care attitude, the pilfering in our offices, the lack of maintenance of government property, the nepotism, our tribalistic attitudes, the ‘Ghana Time’ mentality. These are attitudes that we have to change, because if we have called for change and we don’t eschew all these negative attitudes in our lives, the change can never happen.”
The priest added that he was praying for the change to happen “now in our lives”, and once that happens, “Ghana will be a haven of peace and success”.
