Yvonne Chaka Chaka, a celebrated African music icon from South Africa, will arrive in Accra today for the much talked about music concert, the Vodafone African Legends Night, slated for September 24 at the State Banquet Hall.
The event has raised a lot of eyebrows among music lovers in Accra, and apart from Yvonne Chaka Chaka, it will have performances from other music greats, including Amandzeba Nat Brew, Akosua Agyapong, Wiyaala and Nana Tuffour.
Chaka Chaka, organisers of the event have confirmed, will be lodging at the Accra City Hotel all through her stay in Ghana.
Ahead of her trip, the South African super star had disclosed she was excited about the show and had prepared vigorously for it.
She wrote on her twitter page, “Get your dancing shoes again. I am getting myself ready for u all.”
There was also a video message in which Yvonne said Ghanaians should throng the venue in their numbers as she takes the African Legends Night to a new level with her infectious pop melodies, youth-minded lyrics and girlish charm.
Performing at the African Legends Night has always been a wish for the talented singer whose genre of music – Afro-pop connects very well with the objective of the event.
His Excellency Jon Benjamin, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, a well-known fan of Wiyaala, is hoping to be at the event to watch Yvonne and Wiyaala as he tweeted, “Can’t wait for this one: have always wanted to catch Yvonne live. With GH’s very own superstar Wiyaala in support.”
According to organisers, Global Media Alliance (GMA), their hotlines have been beaming with numerous calls from fans to buy tickets in bulk for friends and families to attend the show.
