The Central Regional minister has apologised to the Omanhen of the Oguaa traditional area after he was hooted at by some New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters during the ‘Thank You Tour’ of the President.
According to Kwamena Duncan, government and the party cannot gloss over the disorderly behaviour that caused Osabarima Kwesi Atta II incalculable embarrassment.
At a courtesy call on the Chiefs at the Eminstemandze Palace on Friday, the Regional minister begged for forgiveness on behalf of the party and the government and assured such an undignified behaviour will not recur.
“It is only proper and reasonable that I apologise on behalf of my party and the government for the altercation that occurred. A government cannot work without the traditional leaders.
“They are going to be one of the huge pillars government will consult to develop the country”, he said.
Mr Duncan’s visit was also to seek the support of the chiefs as he commences his work in the region as a political head.
He implored the chiefs to partner him and guide his steps as he puts forward diverse plans and programmes to improve the standard of living of the people in the Region.
“I have a great vision for this region that goes beyond mere talk. The passion to develop this region of ours is so great that requires the involvement of all and sundry. You, the chiefs will be playing the pivotal role in this drive”, he added.
The Omanhen accepted the apology, thanked him for his show of maturity and pledged his unflinching support for his administration.
The chiefs poured libation to fortify the Regional minister.
