Candidates Make Jobs Availability A Promise

Candidates, contesting the parliamentary election in the Ayensuano constituency are campaigning on jobs, health and education.

Mr. Samuel Ayeh-Paye of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Teddy Addi, National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Mr. Kofi Agor, Independent, said they were going to focus priority effort on these areas, if elected by voters.

This was when they took turns to outline their development vision at a public forum held for them at Coaltar.

The programme was organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in partnership with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the nation’s wire service.

The European Union (EU) provided the funding.

Mr. William Ankuvie, the Eastern Regional Director of the Commission, said the goal was to provide the opportunity for the candidates to tell the people, what they were going do differently to bring progress to them.

He indicated that through this voters would be aided to make the correct decision at the ballot.

It was a chance for the candidates to articulate how they would tackle the felt needs of the people, he added.

Mr. Ayeh-Peye, who is the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) highlighted development projects, he had brought to the constituency and assured the people that there would be more jobs for them under his party’s ‘one-district one-factory’ policy.

Mr. Addi promised to build school structures, set up a fund in support of academically-brilliant students from poor homes and give employable skills training to out-of-school young people.

Mr Agor said he was going to motivate teachers to perform, register people for the national health insurance scheme and establish sachet water factories.
