One of the main candidates for the Presiding Member of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly was detained Thursday for noise-making.
A Kumasi Circuit Court judge ordered the arrest and detention of Assembly member for Ridge Nhyiaeso Electoral area, Abraham Boadi also known as Opooman.
Another Assembly man Alexander Bediako member for Edwenase/Agric Electoral area was also arrested.
The two were arrested for engaging in high-pitched verbal exchanges with members of the KMA Noise Control Unit.
They were the demanding the release of a public address system impounded by the Control Unit. The equipment belonged to their colleague member for Kronum Abuohia, Richard Kwame Sarpong.
But the angry exchanges were disturbing proceedings of a court close the Control Unit.
Court officials say after a warning from the court yielded no results, Presiding Judge Mary Nsenkyeri ordered for their arrest and detention.
They were released after spending some hours behind bars.
The angry duo according to eyewitnesses engaged members of the team angrily demanding the release of the items. The ensuing noise disturbed proceedings at the KMA Circuit Court.
Abraham Boadi was not available for comment.
Boadi polled 65 to beat two others, Bonsu and Obeng polling 59 and 2 votes respectively. But none of them made the two-thirds majority needed to be elected.
