Flawless information available to Today indicates that there is an uneasy calm in the Danquah-Dombo-Busia (DBD) tradition of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The potentially worrying development, Today understands, stems from the ongoing government’s appointment.
Investigations by the paper have revealed that the Busia-Dombo factions of the NPP tradition have been sidelined in the ongoing appointments by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Today’s findings established that so far no major or minor appointment has been offered to persons from these two blocs of the DBD.
A source close to the NPP told Today that the development was creating a bit of tension in the party.
Our investigations further revealed that members of these two factions (Busia-Dombo) of the DBD were seriously irked about the appointments so far.
A source close to the NPP told Today that the situation was very disturbing, looking at the role the Busias and Dombos played in last year’s poll to ensure the party’s victory.
The source cautioned that if the matter is not addressed immediately, it could spell some internal wrangling in the party which consequently could disturb government business.
Significantly, many NPP members could also not understand why such a thing was happening in the party in respect of the appointments.
According to the source, it was important for the president to be reminded that the NPP’s survival today depended on the sacrificial contributions of the founding members of the DBD.
“People in the NPP must not see it as belonging to one faction. That is a tightrope to walk,” the source cautioned.
“From the way the appointments are being done it appears it is a deliberate strategy to sideline the two factions of the tradition—Busias and Dombos,” the source said.
That, according to some members of the NPP, who spoke to Today on condition of anonymity, was not a good signal.
“The President, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, must treat this matter urgently and dispassionately to enable his administration have the peace of mind to govern this country,” the source urged.
