The much anticipated fight between WBO Africa Cruiserweight champion, Braimah ‘Bukom Banku Kamoko and Bastie Samir is set take place on August 17, 2017 at a yet -to be -determined venue amidst years of speculation and uncertainties.
The two boxers who are yet to taste defeat since turning professionals have been throwing taunts at each other over the past two years since a debate emerged on who is the greatest of the two in their weight division.
Negotiations between the camp of Kamoko and Samir reportedly are in an advanced stage pending a few contractual obligations that could set the tone for the clash between two of the most vociferous boxers in Ghana.
Samir, 30, who now resides in Las Vegas together with brother Issah Samir, also a boxer, told a gathering at the Bukom Boxing Arena after the Rumble@60 fight night last week that he has still not reneged on his willingness to fight Bukom Bank, insisting that he was ready for Banku anytime.
An initial promotional package by McDon Promotions for the bout could be replaced for the much lucrative package by Super Entertainment Promotions led by Bernard Fetrie, promoter for Bukom Banku.
Bukom Banku by this declaration could end several months of speculation concerning his next fight after his initially scheduled WBO Africa Cruiserweight bout against his challenger John Napari was cancelled due to the latter’s failure of the standard medicals.
Banku has gone 27 fights clean and has the annexation of the WBO Africa and ABU light heavyweight titles to show for it.
Bastie, an Olympian and former Captain of Ghana’s amateur Boxing team, the Black Bombers has 14 wins and a draw making up his professional record.
