Outspoken New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu has fired salvos at some constituency executives describing them as “hypocrites.”
Bugri Naabu was angered by some constituency executives’ decision to sidestep the regional secretariat and lobbying for appointments at the Presidency.
He described such conduct as an affront to the NPP’s chain of command and threatened to sanction those implicated.
“Some of you think that you can go to Accra and get your appointment and we are fully aware: Now we think that because we have won everybody wants to show that he is intelligent or he knows the big people more than the regional executives who have been put in place to oversee your work.”
“Today when those constituencies come forward with a problem I will refer them to Accra because they know their way to Accra.”
“What I am saying if you think I am wrong don’t sit down quietly. In fact if you do that you are a hypocrite.”
Daniel Bugri Naabu was addressing a meeting in Tamale which brought together all 31 constituency Chairmen, Secretaries and youth Organizers.
He nonetheless called for teamwork between the regional and constituency executives to consolidate the NPP’s electoral fortunes in the region.
The NPP is sharply divided on tribal lines in the Northern Region following the ministerial appointments made so far.
Whereas some concerned party loyalists are accusing the regional Chairman of championing Konkombas agenda, some Dagombas in particular are unhappy about the “Neglect” of their kinsmen in President Nana Addo’s cabinet.
They anticipate a backlash if the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) picks a Dagomba as their running mate for the 2020 elections.
It would be recalled that all NPP constituency executives in the Northern Region unanimously endorsed the Member of Parliament for Bunkprugu, Hon. Solomon Boa for the Deputy Northern Regional Minister position.
The caucus is convinced Hon. Solomon Boa is better placed for the Deputy Regional Minister portfolio.
The Spokesperson, Imoro Issahaku Jamal told Citi News that the Bunkprugu Legislator’s pairing with Salifu Saeed will be a perfect combination.
He cited Hon. Solomon’s humility and knowledge of the dynamics of grassroot politics to buttress the caucus standpoint.
