The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has alleged that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) gave out a bribe of 2 cars and GHc3.3 million to NPP’s Northern Regional Chairman, Bugri Naabu to help them tarnish the image of the NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo among Northerners.
The shocking revelation was made by Nana Addo’s spokesperson, Mustapha Hamid during a press conference on Tuesday, November 29. The report has it that the masterminds of the bribery is President John Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama.

Speaking at the Press Conference, Mustapha Hamid said that “President Mahama and his people have not relented in their evil ways and means to use our own people to work against the NPP.” According to Mr Hamid, Bugri Naabu was invited by Ibrahim Mahama and one Mohammed Awal to meet with the President on Friday, October 28. He said that the President’s and co’s attempt to meet with the NPP chairman became successful that fateful day after six months of futile attempts.
Within that period, Ibrahim made several attempts to convince Bugri with money, to renounce his membership of the NPP and accept a chieftaincy title in place of his late uncle but he never succeeded.
Hamid revealed that at the meeting which was held at Ibrahim Mahama’s house at 9 pm, President Mahama told Mr Naabu to “paint Akufo-Addo as a rabid anti-northern person who could never be trusted to advance the people of the north”. He was to label him a dictator and an anti-northerners.
This he reportedly told him [Naabu], offering him a bribe of GHc 3.3 million, a brand new V6 Mitsubishi, a brand New V8 Land Cruiser. Meanwhile, Mr. Naabu was handed GHc 500,000 in GHc 50 notes on the spot.

Mr Hamid went on to reveal that Mr. Bugri Naabu deposited the money at the Abbosey Okai branch of the Prudential Bank the next day [Saturday], adding that the NDC later fulfilled the promise of the Mitsubishi, which was delivered to Mr. Naabu on November 2. Mr. Hamid said these while presenting the change in ownership documents of the Mitsubishi V6 for the viewing pleasure of all the journalists present. Below are the documents.
The NPP spokesperson also revealed that the vehicle was imported in August 2016 by a firm called Malin Investments Company Limited. He noted that the NPP’s findings at the Registrar General’s Department indicated that, the two of the company’s Directors are Hawa Mahama, sister of President Mahama, and Frank Nuhu Alormasor, President Mahama’s personal assistant.
Mustapha Hamid concluded by calling on all NPP members who are sabotaging the party in one way or the other to desist from doing so as they will be working against themselves, their party and their country by doing so.
This allegation though not fully proven to be true, comes as a big slap on the face of the NDC as the polls are just 7 days away.
