Residents at Buduburam in the Central region reportedly beat up personnel of the Ghana National Fire service in the area for responding late to their call.
According to them, personnel at the fire service office which is situated in the centre of the town failed to heed to their call when fire gutted a house.
Their late response, the residents said led to the loss of properties and hard earned monies.
In revenge, the residents subjected the personnel of the fire service to severe beatings when they arrived at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Chief Fire Officer for the area, Funny Simpson in an interview with Adom News’ Kofi Adjei said they cannot be blamed for the incident.
He explained that, they had problems with their pumps thus had to call for reinforcement from Winneba to enable them douse the fire.
Mr. Simpson bemoaned how people at Buduburam stoned the cars and assaulted personnel for arriving late.
This notwithstanding, the chief fire officer said investigation is ongoing to establish the cause of the fire.
