The maiden edition of GH’s Hottest MCs is finally out; here are the winners…
It would not be wrong to say that Ghanaians truly appreciate their entertainers -both in the Music and Movie Industries. In its bid to acknowledge Ghana’s killers on the mic, Behind The Move-Afrika (BTM-Afrika), an urban, pop cultural platform, has announced winners of its first edition of GH’s Hottest MCs for the year 2016.
As you can rightly guess, Ghana’s top celebrated rappers/EMCEES, all got a spot on the maiden list of the award carried out by the media outfit. Taking the lead yet again, Ghana’s most decorated rapper of all time Sarkodie, topped the list of GH’s Hottest MCs for the year 2016.
Second on the list was rapper M.anifest who who became the talk of Ghana, when he and Sarkodie engaged in a game of flows.
Bbnz recording act & reigning artiste of the year, E. L took the third position. The list also saw new sensation Medikal, Edem, Teephlow, Strongman, Kojo Cue, Flowking Stone and Cabum.
GH Hottest MCs is aimed at celebrating Ghanaian MCs who despite the challenging times and tight competition from other genres, strive for excellence with rap music. The judges appointed by BTM Afrika comprised a number of experienced experts in the industry.
The judges included CEO of Last 2 Music Group Edward Nana Poku Osei also known as Hammer, multi award winning DJ and radio personality DJ Black, Ghana best female DJ with Accra based YFM, DJ Kess, impartial arts critic Francis Doku and music collector Joshua Adjomah. Part of the criteria for consideration included impact, lyrics, buzz, style, as well as other attributes that made the winners stand out from the crowd.
For winning the crown, ace rapper Sarkodie won a weekend stay at the all new Bays Lodge & Apartment. The 2016 GH’s Hottest MCs was sponsored by Kaya Tours Ghana, Bays Lodge & Apartment with support from EOD Partners.
