Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, the Minority Chief Whip has denied categorically that he gave monies to members of the minority caucus on the appointments committee to approve Energy minister Boakye Agyarko, after his vetting.
He said the claim by his colleague Mahama Ayariga is untrue and strange.
“I am a Muslim, Ayariga is a Muslim, and I am swearing by Allah that has created him and I, I never gave Ayariga anything that it was coming from Osei Owusu.
“Osei Owusu has never given any money to me, he has never given me any money to be given to Ayariga. I have never given Ayariga any money saying that it was coming from the Chairman and that is all that I will say,” he told Citi FM.
He added: “We are in the leadership and I think the leadership has to take this matter up. I don’t know where Ayariga is getting this information from. We ourselves had agreed that we never were going to take any dime from anybody; that is all that I will tell you.”
The former Sports minister has alleged that Energy minister Boakye Agyarko attempted to bribe members of the minority caucus, through the chairman of the committee, in order to be approved by the appointments committee following his vetting.
He said GHC3000 was given to each member through the minority chief whip, Muntaka Mubarak, who had received the money from the chairman of the committee.
