Brazilian ambassador to Mozambique Rodrigues Soares told Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho de Rosario on Wednesday that the Moamba-Major dam project would continue.
Soares said the Brazilian government was evaluating the 47 projects that Brazil had agreed to fund in nine countries including Mozambique approved during the mandate of the impeached president Dilma Rousseff.
After meeting with the Prime Minister, Soares told the press that there was no intention for interrupting the dam project.
The dam project in Maputo, evaluated at 466 million U. S. dollars, was launched in 2014 and is expected to be completed in 2019.
The dam will have a capacity of storing 760 million cubic meters of water for irrigation and power generation. Enditem
