A clash between supporters of the governing New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress over the management of a transport terminal in Kumasi has left two persons sustaining serious machete wounds.
A free-for-all fight broke out at the Tamale lorry station at Alabar in the Ashanti Region after some NPP supporters attempted to take over management of the station.
The two persons believed to be in the camp of the NDC were injured in the ensuing brawl.
The police deployed to the scene fired several warning shots to split the two groups from pelting stones and other weapons at each other.
The NPP faction claimed they were in charge of the lorry station but were driven away by supporters of the NDC in 2009 when the party won the elections.
According to them, the time has come for them to take back management of the station because NPP is now in power.
Meanwhile, calm has been restored after the police drove away all the two factions from the station.
The two injured were sent to the Manhyia Government Hospital for treatment by the police.
