The Tema Regional Police Command has declared the founder and leader of the International Godsway Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim as a crime suspect.
This was after the controversial ‘Angel of God’ responded to an invitation sent to him by the Tema Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU).
The Bishop was handcuffed and transferred to the National Criminal Investigations Department in Accra after a caution statement by the police.
Explaining the reason for the twist of events, the Tema Region Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng said Bishop Obinim is now a crime suspect.
She explained that, the decision to handcuff the Bishop is part of police procedure to escort him to the Police Headquarters safety.
The Tema Police PRO added that, though Bishop Obinim has not been charged, he is likely to face charges of assault after openly flogging teenage church members for fornication and abortion.
“Bishop Obinim is not above the laws of Ghana so the police did not err handcuffing him; he is our suspect” she stressed.
ASP Juliana Obeng stated emphatically that the decision to transfer the case to the headquarters is not intended to subject the Man of God to public ridicule.
