The Bimbilla Constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have expressed gratitude to President Nana Akufo-Addo for appointing two people from the constituency for ministerial appointments.
Salifu Saeed has been nominated as the Northern Region Minister while Dominic Nitiwul is Minister-designate for Defence. At a press conference in Tamale in the Northern Region, the constituency secretary, Hussien Muhammed Shani, said for over 25 years nobody from the area has been appointed as a regional minister or deputy regional minister.
He said since the exiting of Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas in local politics as a deputy minister, the constituency has not had any of her sons or daughters becoming a minister. He said the appointments will go a long way to cement the support the party continues to enjoy within the constituency and the entire Nanumba Traditional Area.
Mr. Shani said despite his reputable track record in academia, the regional minister-designate has lived all his life in the north, and therefore urged the youth of the Region to rally behind him for total development and transformation of the Northern Region. He said as a District Chief Executive in the Kufuor administration, Mr Saeed discharged his duties to the admiration of the Bimbilla District and was able to unite and galvanise the support of the people of the district to enhance the development of the area especially in education, health, agriculture and general infrastructure development.
The Secretary said the appointee knows the perfect understanding of the geographical, ethnic, and political dynamics of the Northern Region. The constituency executive commended the Defense Minister, Ntiwul, for the role he played in Parliament, adding that he was the youngest Member of Parliament in 2002 and rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Minority Leader. The Communication Director, Sayibu Abdul Malik, said the protracted conflicts in the Region can be dealt with by the new Regional Minister in consultation with the Security Council, which he will chair.
