A former Attorney General Betty Mould Iddrisu believes the “handsome” looks of President John Mahama alone should be a strong basis for Ghanaians to give him a second term.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer is contesting his main contender Nana Akufo-Addo of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the second time, having defeated him in the 2012 polls.
Mahama could be the first President under the Fourth Republic to have served a term if he loses, but could also make history by giving the NDC three terms in a row should he floor Nana Addo again. A defeat for the NPP leader will mean three-straight setbacks after losing the 2008 elections (against the late Prof. Atta Mills) and the last elections which ended up in court.
Speaking at a mini rally at Oforikrom in the Ashanti region, Mrs. Mould Iddrisu noted “even President John Agyekum Kufuor” of the NPP enjoyed a second term hence it will be unfair on the part of the electorate to deny Mahama same.
“We have given one term to our president [Mahama]. He also deserves a second term,” Mrs. Mould Iddrisu told the crowd.
She added: “Even H. E John Agyekum Kufuor we gave him two terms. Why can’t our handsome President; a gentleman of his sort, an agile personality, a loving and caring President who has Ghana at heart, also enjoy a second term in office.”
The former Education Minister appealed to the supporters to go all out in their numbers to vote for Mahama come December 7 to give him a resounding victory.
“Let’s keep praying for him. What God has planned, no one can destroy it. Vote massively for John Mahama because the chiefs have even endorsed him,” Mrs. Mould Iddrisu stated.
