The opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) wants President Akufo-Addo to come clean on his “grandiose campaign promises” made to Ghanaians, when he delivers his maiden State of the Nation Address tomorrow, February 21, 2017.
The Deputy General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Koku Anyidoho in an interview with host Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM said the NPP administration has realized after coming into office that most of its promises were just facade and not realistic, hence it must come clear on what they can achieve and that which they cannot achieve for Ghanaians.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, pursuant to and as required by article 67 of the constitution will deliver his maiden State of the Nation address on Tuesday, February 21 on the floor of parliament.
Ghanaians are in high spirit to hear the President Akufo-Addo who won the December 7 election on a change campaign to speak on the state of the nation since he took over on January 7.
The president is expected to deliver issues about security, economy on the back of the widespread attack and thuggery of NPP party footsoldiers, and the brouhaha over the Ghana@60 anniversary celebration among others.
He’s also expected to address major policy issues and programmes for 2017 fiscal year. Key among them is the free SHS policy, the one-district one-factory, one-million- dollar one-constituency, one-village one-dam among others.
Commenting on the President’s State of the Nation Address, Mr. Anyidoho said the nation is sitting on tenterhooks to see how he[Akufo-Addo] intends to role out his Change agenda, therefore asking Mr. Akufo-Addo to speak cogently on policy measures of his government and the commitments to resolve the Ghanaian problems.
“There seem to be too much confusion in government now. The centre cannot hold, as there is no clear direction on governance. With all the confusion and distortion that is taking place in governance, my prayer is that tomorrow the President will provide us with a clear roadmap that will kill all the ugly noises that is coming from his appointees. God forbid that I go on my knees and pray that the NPP fails. We wish him well and pray that he does well for the country.”
