The Minister for Roads and Highways Alhaji Inusah is optimistic the Vice Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will rejoin his mother party if the largest opposition party loses the December 7 polls.
He wondered why Dr Bawumia will wine and dine with the very party that has vilified his father Lawyer Mumuni Bawumia more than any other political party in the country.
Alhaji Inusah however expressed hope that with the passage of time, the young economist will retrace his roots and rejoin his mother party which is the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
“Between 1999 and 2000, no political party insulted Dr Bawumia’s father more than the NPP. It is not his fault he is with them….our brother is lost and I am hopeful he will return one day”, he observed.
Addressing party supporters in Walewale, the Minister disclosed that the NDC brought and made Dr Bawumia a deputy governor at the Bank of Ghana after his studies outside daring anyone to challenge that claim.
“NPP is not his home, he does not belong there….he should go back home because the same party called him a political prostitute, a foreigner and party treated him with contempt. His home is the NDC and we will always welcome him if he chooses to return”, he emphasized.
According to him, president Mahama is more committed to the development of Mamprugu more than any of the other presidential candidates and appealed to the electorate to make him proud and vote massively for him at the December 7 polls.
