Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, has inaugurated the Savelugu central Mosque in the Northern Region.
The Saudi Kingdom funded Mosque, known as AlhuMaidan Centre, has ancillary facilities such as an ultra modern school complex, staff bungalow, offices and latrines.
Ghanaian born Saudi Arabia scholar in charge of the Saudi government’s humanitarian services in Ghana, Dr. Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, facilitated the building of the AlhuMaidan Centre.
Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia in a short message, reminded Muslims to be bonded by the tenets of Islam built on the foundation of “Peace and total submission to the Will of Allah.”
He said government was committed to build a united nation to improve the well-being of all citizens, and thus admonished the Clergy to intensify their prayers for national cohesion.
He thanked the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their continuous support to Ghana, particularly in the area of building Mosques, Islamic schools and mechanized boreholes in deprived communities.
Minister designate for Inner Cities and Zongos, Hon. Alhaji Boniface Abubakari Sadique, said government deserved praise for the creation of his ministry.
He implored the Muslim Clergy to pray for the Nana Addo-Bawumia led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to succeed in delivering all its 2016 campaign promises.
Hon. Alhaji Boniface Abubakari Sadique said government was poised to implement pro-poor policies needed to assuage the plight of the suffering masses.
A high powered delegation from the Saudi Kingdom witnessed the occasion which attracted Muslims from all walks of life.
The Saudi government donated modern bicycles to some deserving individuals.
Some Members of Parliament including the Yendi Legislator, Hon. Alhaji Habib Tijani, Savelugu Legislator, Hon. Abdul Samed Gunu and Nantong Legislator, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Hardi Tuferu were present to grace the occasion.
The NPP Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu, and other party bigwigs, as well as a former District Chief Executive for Bimbila, Salifu Saeed, who is speculated to be the incoming Northern Regional Minister, graced the occasion.
