Head Coach of the Black Queens Yusif Basigi says he is pleased with the strength of his squad following the addition of a number of foreign based players ahead of the upcoming Women’s 2016 Afcon in Cameroon.
Ghana’s senior female national team have been in camp for a good part of the last two months at the Ghanaman Soccer school of Excellence in Prampram.
However their counterparts based outside the country including Samira Suleiman,Linda Eshun and Florence Dadson could only join the team in Ghana for the final phase of their training.
“With the arrival of the foreign based players the team has shot up,” he told Citi Sports.
“Even though the home based players were doing very well and we have been impressed with their performances the coming of the foreign based players has given the team a massive boost.
“You can tell that the team has a future and with a little cohesion we will achieve what we want.” The Queens are expected to play a final preparatory game in Cape Coast on November 12 against a select side after a scheduled friendly against Cote D’Ivoire was abruptly called off. Ghana will face defending champions Nigeria as well as Kenya and Mali in Group B.
