Black Stars defender Baba Abdul Rahman may not play any part in the team’s campaign at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
He has travelled to Germany to undergo further tests over the injury he picked up in Ghana’s 1-0 win over Uganda.
Baba Rahman went down in the 37th minute and had to be stretchered off after an earlier challenge had seen him twist his knee.
He was substituted by Frank Acheampong.
On Wednesday, Black Stars’ doctor Adam Baba travelled with the player from Port-Gentil to Gabon’s capital town Libbreville for MRI scans.
A statement on the website of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said the Schalke 04 on loan from Chelsea will be in Germany “to undergo further tests and possible surgery over a knee injury”.
“Ghana Football Association (GFA) took the decision in consultation with his club Schalke after tests were carried out on the injury in the Gabonese capital of Libreville on Wednesday.”
A team official is expected to accompany the defender to Germany on Thursday, January 19.
“The GFA will offer all the support to the dedicated and hardworking Baba Rahman on his road to recovery,” the Association assured.
