The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, should cease talking about matters relating to the Delta Force who attacked a Circuit Court in Kumasi on Thursday, Abdul-Malik Kweku Baako, editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide, has said.
According to him, the utterances of Chairman Wontumi on the matter and his comments about the National Security Minister Kan Dapaah undermine the government and the president’s integrity, hence the need for him to realise he is doing more harm than good to the current adminsitration.
Chairman Wontumi on Friday asked National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah to shut up on matters relating to the activities of the Delta Force, a private security arm of the NPP.
According to the NPP regional chairman, members of the Delta Force played a key role in ensuring electoral victory for the NPP, hence should not be labelled as criminals by Mr Kan-Dapaah.
Commenting on the attacks on a Kumasi Circuit Court by members of the group, Chairman Wontumi said: “Even though their action was uncalled for, they helped the party secure victory in the December 2016 elections,” he said in an interview with Kumasi-based Ash FM. “Where was Kan-Dapaah during the elections?
“Kan-Dapaah should know that he is in power because of this same group he is calling criminals. He never campaigned for the party but is rather enjoying after the group has suffered for the party. He should be very careful and shut up and behave like an elderly person.”
But speaking on Multi TV’s Newsfile on Saturday April 8, Mr Baako said: “The Ashanti regional chairman also should be careful. If I were him I would stop talking. If I were the president I would keep Kan Dapaah at the place [National Security Ministry]. He is doing a lot of good to the party’s image and the government’s image.
“Those attacking him, the things they are saying rather [are] undermining the integrity of this government and especially of the president, so Kan Dapaah must be doing something right.”
