The founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga has scorned a statement by the party declaring support for leader of the largest opposition party, Nana Akufo-Addo.
“Membership of APC (All People’s Congress) nationwide and the general public should ignore circulating propaganda of APC declaring support to the NPP,” Mr. Ayariga rejected the statement issued on Sunday morning.
The party’s statement by its General Secretary that indicated that it will campaign “seriously” for New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, also said the party “strongly believe that Only Nana Akufo-Addo can offer Ghanaians a more credible, incorruptible and transformational leadership than all other Presidential Candidates contesting the 2016 general election.”
But Hassan Ayariga in a short dismissive statement to TV3 hours later said “Until declaration made by Dr Hassan Ayariga, any other news of APC in support of the NPP is a mere propaganda and is null and void.”
His statement also emphasized that together with the National Executive committee and national delegates of the party, he will officially declare and endorse one of the seven presidential candidates tomorrow 28th November 2016.
Hassan Ayriga who contested the 2012 presidential election on the ticket of the People’s National Convention had his nomination by the APC rejected by the Electoral Commission for the 2016 elections.
