Youth of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asunafo South constituency in the Brong Ahafo Region have expressed disappointment in their former Regional Chairman, and now Brong Ahafo Regional Minister for refusing to lobby for one George Yaw Boakye to become his deputy
The youth were not happy that a different person was appointed over their preferred choice by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the Brong Ahafo regional deputy minister.
According to them, the then candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo promised them that he would give George Yaw Boakye an appointment, if he won the presidential election
That, the youth said, motivated them to go all out to ensure a massive victory for the president.
And although they said they lost the parliamentary election, they were able to garner more for President Akufo-Addo in the last year December elections.
The leader of the group, Yaw Amankwah, in an interview told Today that “we know that the president has not forgotten about Hon. George Yaw Amankwah, but the challenge is the lack of support for Mr. Boakye from the Regional Minister.”
He however, discounted earlier media reports that they were angry with the president.
“We are afraid as the positions are getting finished the president may appoint him as an ambassador somewhere and the party in the Asunafo areas would suffer because he is our everything, which the regional executives are aware.
“…Everybody knows what Hon. has done for the NPP in the constituency. He single- handedly provided everything we needed during our campaign not only in 2016 but in 2012 as well,” he disclosed.
