The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant for Asunafo South, George Boakye is hinting of reprisal attacks if the spate of attack on his members does not stop.
According to him, the police has failed to offer them the needed protection in spite of numerous reports lodged following similar attacks on them by thugs suspected to be members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Boakye’s comments come after an NPP youth activist was assaulted at Sankore in the Asunafo North constituency by unknown men during the voter transfer exercise.
The victim, Amos Asare had his finger chopped off in the latest attack on Sunday which also left scores injured and offices of the Electoral Commission vandalized leading to the suspension of the exercise.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, the NPP Asunafo South parliamentary aspirant expressed worrying about the conduct of the police
He revealed that, the thugs outnumbered the few police officers detailed to the conflict area and had to flee for their lives when the attacks escalated.
George Boakye maintained that the NPP will win the Asunafo South seat despite the machinations by the NDC to cause mayhem in the area.
He added that, his supporters will be forced to retaliate if nothing is done about the situation.
