Ghanaian actress Regina Adu Safowaah has described Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew as very important players for the Black Stars but believes Gyan is the most passionate between the two when it comes to the senior national team.
Both players, who are key for the senior national team, have been in the news in recent times over captaincy issues as reported by a section of the media.
Dede Ayew is deputy to Asamoah Gyan but there have been rumours that the two have not seen eye to eye, raising speculations about their commitment to the senior national team.
The latest was during the 2017 African Nations Cup, which took place in Gabon, where a report claimed that there was a heated exchange between the two during the team’s stay in Port Gentil.
However, the GFA was quick with its response with a series of Tweets to assure Ghanaians that the news was untrue as the players were focused on defeating the Cranes of Uganda ahead of that opening Group D win.
The award winning actress in an interview with 3news.com described the two players as very important personalities for the Black Stars and Ghana but stressed on passion of the team being with Asamoah Gyan.
“Dede and Jordan are good but the passion of the Black Stars is with Asamoah,” she said.
“Don’t forget Dede is very passionate about what he does because we all see that on the field of play and admire him.
“But what I can say and I believe is that the passion of the team is with Asamoah and trust me the guy is good.”
