A Gonja sub-chief at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region has been killed by armed robbers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
The deceased, Alhaji Seidu Abdullai also known as Holala was shot in the leg and died enroute to the Kintampo government hospital.
The incident happened between Apesika and Zammarama, towns in the Pru district Sunday.
Son of the late chief, Easy Holala in an interview with Ado News’ Koofori Bossu Denkye said, five armed robbers attacked them on their way to Kwame Danso.
He said the robbers who spoke Fulani language pointed guns at them and demanded money but shot his father in the process.
Easy Holala counts himself lucky since according to him, the armed robbers pulled the trigger on him twice but did not hit him.
“The robbers pointed the gun at my neck and pulled the trigger but there was no fire; I count myself very luck but my father could not survive” he bemoaned.
However, Easy said the armed robbers managed to escape when the heard the police approaching.
The late Alhaji Seidu Abdullai is said to be a staunch member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region.
Constituency Secretary for Kintampo, Dauda Mohammed expressed shock at the sudden demise of their party members.
He bemoaned the incessant armed robbery attacks especially in Kintampo Prang and called on the police to beef up security.
Dauda Mohammed promised the party will organize a befitting burial for the late Alhaji Abdullai.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Kintampo government hospital morgue pending investigations.
