Custom officials in the Ashanti region have impounded three articulated trucks loaded with cooking oil.
The oil branded “Trade Key Pure Vegetable Cooking Oil” were supposed to be in transit to Cote D’Ivoire but were impounded at a warehouse at Barekese in the Ashanti region where the trucks diverted to offload the products.
Ashanti regional commander of customs, Assistant Commissioner Kwasi Aheakpor told Ultimate News that the articulated truck drivers are devising means of beating the tracking system to evade taxes.
He, however, indicated that Custom officials are putting in place measures to track and arrest the vehicles whenever they are found veering off approved transit routes in the Ashanti region.
Mr. Aheakpor further disclosed that the regional command has also intercepted a truck full of unaccustomed electronics among other luxury vehicles.
