The Chief of Akyem Asene and the acting Adontenhene of Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area in the Eastern Region, Nana Karikari Apau Frimpong III, has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint Mr Samuel Kyei-Boateng, a veteran journalist, as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Birim Central.
According to a statement copied to the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Kyei-Boateng, a card-bearing member of the NPP, is capable of bringing the needed rapid development to the area.
“Unlike the other MCE aspirants, Mr Kyei-Boateng enjoys not only the massive support of the traditional authority in the area, but also both sides of the political divide, so his endorsement by the municipal assembly members would be very easy,” the statement said.
As a home boy who is familiar with the aspirations and problems of all the communities in the municipality, the statement said, Mr Kyei-Boateng could transform the area through accelerated growth if he “is endorsed as the MCE and given the needed logistic support.”
“Since time immemorial, all the MCEs for the Birim Central Municipality have been appointed from the Oda Constituency to the disadvantage of the Asene-Manso-Akroso Constituency,” it said.
Committed member
The statement said Mr Kyei-Boateng “is a committed member of the NPP who has worked in many parts of the country including Wa in the Upper West Region, Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region and Accra in the Greater Accra Region.”
The statement said the Birim Central Municipality needed the experience and competence of Mr Kyei–Boateng “who is not only affable, honest and hardworking, but relates very well with all manner of people.”
