A group calling itself the Friends of Victor Smith, has issued a week’s ultimatum to outspoken communications member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hopeson Adorye to apologize to president John Dramani Mahama and Ambassador Victor Smith or incur their wrath.
They claim that Mr Adorye allegedly made defamatory comments about the two during NPP’s Abuakwa North constituency campaign launch in the Eastern Region over the weekend.
The NPP stalwart is accused of describing the President as being drunk anytime he is on stage to speak to party supporters, whiles Ambassador Smith is alleged to have a hand in the death of the late MP for the area, J. B. Danquah Adu.
But speaking at a press conference held at Akyem Tafo, the Spokesperson Atta Boateng disclosed that the comments by Mr. Adorye are unfortunate, lack credibility and are therefore calling on him to apologise or face the wrath of the group at the expiration of the ultimatum.
He said they will not keep silent on such purported lies from the NPP leader but threatened to face him boot-for-boot if he fails to render an unqualified apology to the President and their candidate.
“We are warning him to apologise and desist from such defamatory statements since he knows what he said is a lie ” He said profusely.
Mr. Boateng however pledged to attack the personality of some leading members of the party if the NPP continues to peddle unsubstantiated lies about any member of the ruling NDC.
“We want the NPP to also know that we the NDC can do more than what they are doing so they better change their unpromising style of campaigning” He added.
