A former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Professor Stephen Adie, has stated that any person Ghanaians will vote for at the polls will be the leader the country deserves.
The academician insists that irrespective of the flaws of the person, Ghanaians have no right to complain because he/ she has been accepted by the majority and therefore deserves to lead the country.
Speaking at a public forum organized by Ultimate 106.9 Fm under the topic ‘the leader Ghana Deserves’, the economist observed that the country is however characterized by vote buying, political coloration and leaders who rig elections among others just to be in power.
While observing that these are traits in the governance system that is not deepening the democracy hampering the true leadership country deserves and therefore indicate that the country can do more to improve on its choice of leaders.
“Any person Ghanaians vote for is the leader they deserve. Sadly, our choice of leadership has been characterized by vote buying, political coloration, tribalism and over voting which till date cannot be defined”, he observed.
According to him, the citizenry will be required to do more in the choice of their leaders and eschew the politicization and tribalism among other elements to enable Ghanaians be happy with the real type of leaders they truly deserve.
