Former vice president, Amissah Arthur, says he is shocked over the resignation of the head of the central bank, Abdul Nashiru Issahaku.
In an interview with Joy FM, the former vice president and governor of the bank of Ghana argued that Issahaku’s suspension was not just unexpected but as well indicative of the political pressure felt in the bank.
“It was a surprise to me. I don’t think anyone takes the position of government lightly, it’s a very important position. But I hop the new governor puts in the best efforts to improve our economy,” he argued.
Meanwhile, Issahaku has revealed that he tendered in his resignation without any political pressure.
ccording to him, his decision to vacate his position was a personal one which has no bearing with political interests.
