AMA To Remove Party Posters At Public Places

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has said the rampant mounting and posting of publicity materials such as political party and church posters at public places, especially on bridges and flyovers, violate the assembly’s by-laws, hence should be removed.

A statement issued by Sam Ayeh-Datey, Metro Coordinating Director, on behalf of the Chief Executive of the AMA, said: “The AMA wishes to inform all churches, political parties and the general public that this is against the AMA premises maintenance by-law of 1995 section 76 of the Local Government Act, 1993 (Act 462) and paragraph 35 of the Local Government (Accra Metropolitan Assembly), Establishment Instrument, 2012 – L. I 2034.”

The statement added: “It would be appreciated if all publicity materials which have not been permitted by the assembly are removed with immediate effect (by Monday 31st October, 2016) or the assembly shall be forced to do same and surcharge those found culpable for the cost of removal.”
