MEMBERS and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Denkyembour District Assembly of the Eastern Region have appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to consider appointing former reporter of Daily Statesman, Mr. Castro Obeng-Danquah as new District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area
According to them, their call became necessary “because Mr. Obeng-Danquah who doubles as a former Assembly member for Dwenase Electoral Area in Akwatia is a grassroots person with technical know-how to champion the development of the area.
Mr. Obeng-Danquah who is the current Director of Communications of the NPP in Akwatia Constituency is a competent person of the area, decent to be chosen as the DCE for the district in line with the NPP’s constitution,” they maintained.
Although they acknowledged that, Akwatia has become one of the fastest growing cosmopolitan areas in the region, “it is an undeniable fact that, Mr. Obeng-Dunquah is competent and hardworking grassroots politician within the NPP, who can champion the development of Akwatia in accordance with the NPP’s manifesto”.
In separate interviews with Today, the chiefs and elders of the area reminded the President of the promise he made to them during one of his visits to the area.
They argued that, Mr. Obeng-Danquah among all the names submitted to the President for consideration, he (Mr. Obeng) understands the concept of local government well.
To this end the pleaded with the President to consider their request just as he did for the other regions.
“If the President can appoint competent people to represent their regions as Regional Ministers, same can be done in Akwatia” they stressed.
