The Member of Parliament for Bongo Constituency of the Upper East region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Hon. Edward Bawa has said the free public SHS policy initiated by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a scam.
According to him, the NPP is failing to do what it promised prior to the elections.
The free SHS policy was a major campaign message in 2012 and reiterated by the NPP during the country’s 2016 general elections which it emerged victoriously.
The NPP after capturing power from the NDC in the 2016 elections affirmed the party’s resolve to enforce the policy as featured in the President Akufo-Addo’s first state of the nation’s address as well as in the maiden budget of the party delivered by the finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta Thursday.
But the MP for Bongo, Edward Bawa insist the ruling government has not been sincere to Ghanaians since they campaigned on making it absolutely free contrary to the ‘first years only’ announced by the finance minister.
“For them to tell us SHS is free only for us to know that only first years are going to benefit, the policy is a scam” the former Head of Communications at the Ministry of Petroleum yelled.
According to Hon. Edward Bawa, policies such as the one district one factory and the 1 million dollars, one constituency are all scams of the NPP.
