Former Minister of Finance under the administration of former President Rawlings, Mr Kwame Peprah has said the one million dollars for each constituency promised by the NPP Flagbearer Nana Akuffo Addo is not feasible.
He challenged Nana Akuffo Addo and the NPP to come out with explanation on how funds will be raised for allocation to the various constituencies as is being promised by the party.
Mr Kwame Peprah made the comment in Kumasi at a Breakfast Meeting with professionals organized by the NDC as part of activities for the five-day Ashanti region campaign tour by the Chief of staff.
According to Mr Kwame Peprah, even if funds was available for such a policy, there are no public administrative structures in the constituencies to receive and manage such funds.
Mr Kwame Peprah asked Professionals in the country to show keen interest in the manifestoes of the various political parties to enable them critically analyse the promises contained in them.
Some participants at the meeting emphasised the need for government to ensure the employment of more persons with disability in the public sector.
Responding to a question on strikes by public workers against government especially during in an election year, former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi described the timing of such strikes as bad.
He explained that government cannot immediately meet the demands of such striking workers before election.
According to Mr Ahwoi, government has entered into an agreement with the IMF to avoid over spending in an election.
