The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has described President Akufo-Addo’s first hundred days in office as one which was marked by a ‘reign of terror’.
Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said at a townhall meeting that the government achieved 103 achievements in its first 100 days. This achievement, he said is from various sectors of the economy.
Reacting to this on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Tuesday, the NDC chair said despite the NPP doing well in recording some remarkable economic indices including the stabilization of the cedi, the first hundred days has largely been marked by a reign of terror.
“The first hundred days has only been a reign of terror with vigilante groups visiting mayhem on even appointees of the government…the NDC has been at the receiving end of most of these mayhems…,” he said.
According to him, members of the NDC are largely been tormented as part of the means of ‘putting fear into us’.
Vigilante groups aligned to the NPP has in the past weeks been in the news for fomenting one trouble or the other.
Some members of the party’s Invisible Forces stormed the passport office in Accra with others also reportedly taking over the security at certain strategic state agencies including the Tema Port.
In the Ashanti Region, some members of the Delta Force are standing trial for assaulting the Regional Security Coordinator after they protested his appointment.
Some members of the group caused pandemonium at the KMA circuit court after 13 members initially arrested were refused bail.
This led to the escape of the 13 members standing trial. They later turned themselves in and was re-arraigned before the same court and fined for escaping from the court.
Eight of the members of the group who were arrested for causing the pandemonium are also standing trial.
These occurrences and the seizure of state vehicles, Allotey Jacobs said have marred the first hundred days of the government.
