The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described the party’s fifth position on the ballot paperias a very good omen.
Linking Nana Akufo Addo’s position to the five smooth stones David picked before facing Goliath in the Bible, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman ‘Wontumi’ is of the firm conviction that victory will be for the NPP in the December polls.
“Nana is going to stone Mahama with his number 5 position on the ballot paper. The number five has symbolic meaning in the Bible where we saw and even read how David stoned Goliath regardless of his stature” he said.
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) would be first on the ballot paper, to be followed by the National Democratic Party (NDP) with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) being at the third position. Incidentally the NDC also chose number 3 in the parliamentary balloting.
The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) will be 4th on the ballot while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be 5th on the ballot. The PNC would be number 6, with the Independent Candidate, Jacob Osei-Yeboah (JOY) being the last. Again, the NPP had chosen number 5 in the parliamentary balloting.
The balloting was done by the Commission Wednesday after it finally allowed the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), National Democratic Congress (NDP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) on the ballot.
Chairman Wontumi, citing 1 Samuel vrs 50 to buttress his argument, indicated that in the same manner David picked up five smooth stones to kill Goliath and free the Israelites from the tyranny of the Philistines, Nana Akufo-Addo would repeat the same triumph against President Mahama in the December 7 presidential elections.
