Minister of Communications, Edward Omane Boamah has predicted that flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo will not win even 70% of votes cast in the Ashanti region in the December polls.
“With Ashanti region, I say today, write the date down, NPP will never win 70% of the votes in Ashanti region. Mahama will go beyond 30 percent; the rest of the parties will be left to battle for the remainder” he confidently stated on Adom FM’s Morning Show “Dwaso Nsem” Tuesday.
His comment follows the the ruling National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) intent to win 30% of the total votes cast in the opposition party’s largest stronghold.
But regional executives of the NPP have described the intent as a dream and a figment of their imagination.
However, Dr. Omane Boamah on Dwaso Nsem said the NPP will be laughing at the wrong side of their mouths after the December polls.
He cited the warm reception accorded to President Mahama in a region deemed a no go area for the NDC as an example of the expected electoral sweep.
The Communications Minister predicted that, President Mahama will pull a surprise by winning over 30% votes in the ‘World Bank’ of the NPP.
Dr. Omane Boamah added that, other areas presumed to be strongholds of the NPP will all fall for the NDC in the December polls.
“The Ashanti and Eastern regions have shown so much love to President Mahama. Regardless of the time or day, they came out in their numbers to show their support. That is why we are confirming agenda 50-50 for NDC in Eastern Region.
“We the NDC are also taking the seats of Suhum, Nsawam, Asuogyaman and other seats. I assure you of that”.
