The governing NDC is challenging the flagbearer of the NPP ito sue the African Watch magazine for claiming his is suffering from cancer.
According to deputy Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, there has been no clear definitive denial of the story by the NPP, which is rather blaming the NDC “just for sympathy votes”.
His comment comes after Nana Akufo-Addo accused the NDC of contracting the US-based magazine African Watch to publish a supposed health report titled: “NPP campaign in jeopardy…Akufo-Addo has cancer.”
Addressing a rally in the Northern region, the NPP flagearer called on party members to treat such fabricated stories from the NDC with the contempt it deserves.
But Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme found it surprising that Nana Akufo-Addo is attacking the NDC rather than the magazine which published the story.
He said the NDC and its founder, ex-president Jerry Rawlings have also been a victim of such publication by African Watch but did not blame the NPP.
“Nana Addo should speak to the specific issues raised in the publication and stop clutching at straws. He is just blaming the NDC for sympathy votes” he stressed.
The deputy Communications Minister dared the NPP flagbearer to name any NDC member who made the allegation of his health status if he wants to be taken serious.
“The only standard of proof which will be acceptable is for Nana Akufo-Addo to prove beyond reasonable doubt that indeed we made the allegation” he stated.
