President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was at his humble best when he served food to soldiers at the end-of-year get-together of the Ghana Armed Forces at the Burma Camp in Accra on Friday.
The president’s gesture has drawn swift praise on social media, with many describing him as a humble man.
“Jesus washed the feet of His disciples and He charged them to do same, not to be arrogant over them. Nana is learning from Christ our saviour,” Bright Barwuah, a Facebook user, wrote.
“Nana you do all,u are indeed bringing decency to the presidency,” Emmani Kwaku Okyere Darko also wrote on Facebook.
“Wat else can we ask for? Bringing presidency to people’s level. Addo preman!Addo Nyamemkye,” Pretty Asa also noted on Facebook.
Addressing the soldiers, Akufo-Addo said a number of the pledges regarding the welfare of the Ghana Armed Forces had already been fulfilled just two months into his administration.
In part fulfilment of the NPP’s manifesto pledge of improving the welfare of the Armed Forces, Akufo-Addo said the government had increased the peacekeeping allowance, effective January 2017, from US$31 to US$35.
The president’s speech drew applause from the men and women of the Armed Forces gathered at the event.
