The headquarters of the Glorious Word Power Ministries at Odorkor in Accra became a centre of joyous celebration last Sunday when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo joined the congregation to give thanks to God for his victory in the December 7, 2016 general election.
The President said his presence at the church was to thank God for what He did through the Founder and General Overseer of the church, Rev. Dr Isaac Owusu Bempah, and his church for his (President’s) victory in the election.
Rev. Dr Owusu Bempah had, several months before the 2016 elections, predicted victory for then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His prophecy ignited a tirade of condemnation from leading members of the clergy and members of the public over what was described then as a false prophecy.
Show of tenacity
At the thanksgiving service, President Akufo-Addo said despite the open condemnations that greeted the prophecy, Rev. Dr Owusu Bempah stood his ground and maintained that what God had told him was the truth.
The President said he received calls from a number of people, including some men of God, who claimed that his (Nana Akufo-Addo’s) soul was in peril because of Rev. Dr Owusu Bempah’s dangerous prophecy.
Ordained victory
The President said his victory in the 2016 elections had been ordained by God because the elections had been a battle against powers and principalities but the battle was the Lord’s.
He was particularly grateful to Rev. Dr Owusu Bempah for his resolve to stick by the word of God and the promised victory, even in the face of condemnation and plain insults.
President Akufo-Addo said it got to a tipping point when anyone who was not a true man of God would have chickened out, but Rev. Dr Owusu Bempah remained resolute and unflinching.
In the end, the word of God, as spoken through the man of God, came to pass, to the glory of the Almighty God, the President said.
More prayer support needed
Nana Akufo-Addo urged Rev. Dr Owusu Bempah to continue to seek the face of God for the success of the work of his (President’s) administration as he dealt with the challenges that confronted Ghanaians.
The President said he and his team of ministers had come to serve the nation with clean hands, minds and hearts and that they required the prayer support of all Ghanaians to make the visions of his government attainable.
The tenacity of purpose that accompanied Rev. Dr Owusu Bempah’s resolve to stand by the victory prophecy that God had given him, the President said, should continue to guide him in telling him the truth whenever he (President) erred.
Nana Akufo-Addo said such bluntness from him and other like-minded men and women of God, coupled with the hard work of his administration and the blessings of God, was the only way for Ghana to progress onto growth, prosperity and attain higher incomes.
