President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday inaugurated the board of trustees for the construction of a national cathedral Project, with a call on them to deliver a monumental place of worship for the nation.
The board is expected to agree on the design of the project, supervise the construction and more importantly raising the needed finances for the Project. It will also be responsible for the management of the facility on completion.
The construction of a National Cathedral is one of several legacy projects being undertaking to commemorate Ghana’s 60th independence celebration.
Inaugurating the board, the President charged the clergy and the church in Ghana to support the project, and expressed the hope that it is completed in record time
The board is composed of a chairman, Most Reverend Asante Antwi and his assistant, Archbishop Charles Plamer Buckle, with prophet Kusi Boateng as the secretary.
The rest of the members are Apostle Opoku Onyinah, Rev. Joyce Agree, Presbyterian Moderator, Cephas Omenyo, Rt. Rev. Offei Akrofi, Archbishop Nicholas Dancun Williams, Rev. Eastwood Abana, Bishop Dag Herward Mills, Pastor Mensa Otabil, Rev Dr. Frimpong Manso and former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, Prof. Emmanuel Martey.
Chairman of the board, Rt. Rev. Asante Antwi said the team is in a hurry to deliver the project for the people of Ghana, assuring the President that the board will get to work immediately.
