Deputy Communications Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Fred Agbenyo claims President Akufo Addo has appointed his enemies whose actions may do him in, if not checked immediately.
According to him, persons around the President are putting him in harm’s way and his life threatened with the needless disclosures made by some of these government officials.
The Director of Communications at the presidency, Eugene Arhin, has disclosed that President Nana Akufo-Addo is compelled to use his private Landcruiser car when he going outside Accra, and a 2007 BMW car purchased by the state, following the over 200 state cars which government claimed has disappeared from the pool of vehicles at the presidency.
The discloure by Mr Arhin, has generated a lot of heated arguments among a section of the public, with critics bashing the Presidential Staffer for revealing so much about the President.
Mr Agbenyo who shares this view, while commenting on the matter on Peace FM stated that Mr Arhin must be sanctioned for his careless statement, which has huge implications for the President’s security.
“Are you not putting the President at risk, it’s as if President Akufo Addo has recruited people around him who are his enemies. Because what Eugene Arhin has done is putting the President’s life at risk, you are telling the whole world that the President now sits in a car which is not bullet proof while there are criminals and assassins all over the place. Why should he put out such information, does this conduct shows he cares and loves the President…it’s as if he’s an enemy to the President.”
He added: “I thought by now officials at the Presidency should have received some security briefings that nobody discloses so much about the President and the presidency. It is not for nothing that when the President is moving out, we see in his convoy one or two cars which are the same as his official vehice so that in the event that some happens, the President is immediately put in another car, so that the public are not able to identify the one in which of the cars he’s riding in.“
