President Akufo-Addo has finally declared his assets to the Auditor General’s department, fulfilling his constitutional requirement.
This comes after the president failed to declare his assets on Monday as the auditor general’s department had run out of receipts booklets.
Sources at the presidency had indicated that, the President was shocked and highly disappointed when he was told that the receipts which are issued as proof of assets declaration have run out, and they were unsure when some would be made available.
But the President finally declared his assets on Thursday, January 26, but is yet to make the declaration public.
The declaration of assets is constitutionally mandated of all public officers.
President Nana Akufo-Addo assumed office on January 7, 2017 following a successful election campaign during which he promised to clamp down on corruption.
Although he is mandated to declare his assets only to the Auditor General before and after his term, the president has in the past committed to make that declaration public
