The National Accreditation Board has expressed surprise with the Inspector General of Police, John Kudalor’s acceptance of an honorary doctorate degree from the unaccredited Dayspring Christian University despite an earlier alert it issued to the Police administration.
According to the Executive Secretary of the board, Kwame Dattey, it wrote to the Police Administration to disregard any award by the same institution when it attempted to honour the immediate past IGP, Mohammed Alhassan, with the same honorary doctorate degree.
“The immediate past IGP, they had wanted to confer such an honorary degree on him and I wrote to him and they wrote back to thank me for the education so I am surprised that the incumbent is going in for the same fake honorary degree,” Mr. Dattey revealed.
But the Ghana Police Service issued a statement in June announcing the conferment of the honorary doctorate by the US-based university.
The academic laurel of Doctor of Psychology- Conservative Model + ad eundem was awarded to the IGP on June 28, 2015 and it was received early June 2016, when John Kudalor visited the United States on official assignment.
