George Ayisi-Boateng, a leading member of the NPP in the Ashanti Region, says a new move allegedly being considered by government to absorb the ruling party’s[NPP] private security arm into the National Security would be meaningful to the country’s security system.
Some Ghanaians are outraged that the NPP government would be risking public safety, should members of such vigilante groups be allowed into National Security.
But speaking on Ekosii Sen Programme on Asempa FM,the leading member of the NPP said so long as they remain Ghanaians, they can also be considered for National Security job.
He added: “Remember the scriptures say the devil finds work for the idle hands, so if its worthwhile to consider them after checking on their background, their physical fitness, and everything, Praise the Lord. There is no problem with that.”
Mr. Ayisi-Boateng contends that what is crucial under such circumstance would be the “kind of training” they may have to undergo to fit well into the security environment.
The party’s security arm has become an albatross round the neck of the NPP government in the wake of post-election violence and lawlessness carried out by the party’s private security groups[ Invisible Forces and Delta Force].
There have been calls for the leadership of the NPP to stop the lawlessness of Invisible and the Delta Forces in the country, after the latter carried out a dreadful attack last week on the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Agyei, who was appointed by the President.
